Booking with StayBooker — guest questions

No accounts, no marketplace markup. Just direct bookings with the people who run the place.

How does booking work?+

Pick a stay, choose your dates and guest count, pay securely via Stripe, and you'll get an instant email confirmation. The host is notified at the same time and can message you with check-in details.

Is my payment secure?+

Yes. All payments are handled by Stripe — the same payments processor used by Amazon, Shopify and the UK government's gov.uk services. Your card details are never seen or stored by StayBooker or the host.

Can I cancel? What's the refund policy?+

Each host sets their own cancellation policy — usually a free-cancellation window before check-in. The exact terms appear on the booking page before you pay. If you cancel within the window your refund is issued automatically via Stripe.

Who do I contact if something goes wrong on the trip?+

Contact the host directly — their email (and phone, if they've shared it) are in your confirmation. They run the property and are best placed to help. If something is seriously wrong and the host isn't responding, email us at hello@staybooker.co.uk.

Is StayBooker the host?+

No. StayBooker is the booking system that small independent hosts use to take direct bookings. Your contract is with the host, not us.

Why book direct instead of through a big travel site?+

Booking direct means the host pays no commission to a middleman, so prices stay fair without the 15-20% markup that big sites like Airbnb or Booking.com add. You're also dealing with the actual person running the property — no call-centre, no surprise fees.

Do I need to create an account?+

No. Just enter your details at checkout. Your confirmation arrives by email and you can manage or cancel via the link in that email.

How do I get my booking confirmation?+

It arrives by email within a minute or two of paying. If it doesn't, check your spam folder. Still nothing? Email hello@staybooker.co.uk with the date and host name and we'll find it.
